So I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I loved the Kite Runner, which is his first book, but I have to say, I think this book was even better. A Thousand Splendid Suns looks at a female perspective of growing up in Afghanistan, tying in events that have occurred over the past 30 years in the country’s history. It really is amazing what women have endured during this time. The bond that two women form in this book is amazing and the things they go through together are heartbreaking. Khaled Hosseini does an excellent job pulling your heart and soul into this book. I don’t know what else to say….READ THIS BOOK! I couldn’t put it down.

For Christmas my husband loaded me up on plenty of reading material. I started with the Harry Potter series…no I hadn’t read any of the books yet. I’m the kind of person, when reading a series, does better when waiting until all the books have been published. I hate having to wait months or years for the new book. Case in point…I’ve been waiting for the follow up book by Christopher Paolini for what seems like forever. For some reason he keeps pushing the release date of his next book back. I’m going to have to read the first two books over again because I have forgotten the important details. So, back to what I was saying….I started reading the Harry Potter books at the beginning of January and wrapped up book 7 about two weeks ago. The books were great, by the way. I’m now trying to catch up on the movies.
Tonight I started “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. Most of you know him as the author of “The Kite Runner”, which is one of my favorite books. So far, this new book is as great as his last one. So, it should be a fairly quick read for me, considering I have a hard time putting good books down and have been known to sacrifice sleep to get a few extra hours of reading in. Because I read alot I wanted to talk about my thoughts and views on my choices of reading material in this blog. I will probably write more thoughts about this book after I am finished.
