I now have exactly 11 days before Clarke and I leave for our vacation to Florida. The past couple of years we’ve tried to take a vacation around our anniversary, which is May 15th. This year we will be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary in sunny Florida. Hard to believe we’ve been married that long….last year we went to LA for about a week. I’ve never been to Florida and am looking forward to the white sand beaches and plenty of sun. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain us on the whole time we’re down there. I’m really excited about finally getting to use the new camera that Clarke got me for Christmas. I’ll have to post lots of pictures when we get home.
On another note…Gracee is having surgery tomorrow. No puppies in Gracee’s future. I’m hoping that she will calm down a little…it seemed to help Ernie when he had the procedure done. It’s going to be very difficult to keep Ernie and Gracee separated for an entire week, since she is not to partake in any “rough play.” We will be taking Ernie down to my parents while we are away on vacation. He never seems to do very well when we board him. Gracee will be staying at the vet’s. I know she will be fine there…besides, I think my dad would get too annoyed with a puppy trying to eat everything in sight.
We also have our last softball games of the spring season this sunday. Our team has won a few and lost a few, but overall we are much better than we were when we started out last summer, although we got our butts kicked last Sunday. Now if only someone on our team would break down and buy a decent bat…

So, as most of you know, I work at a hospital here in Overland Park and let me tell you, this week has been crazy. Seems we have too many patients and not enough therapists. And…since I have now taken over the “board” meaning I’m the scheduling queen, my job has gotten a lot crazier in the past few weeks. All in all, the week went by very fast. I’m looking forward to having another weekend off. It’s the last one for a couple weeks so I’d better enjoy it. I hope the weather cooperates. I’m still working on posting more pictures. There have been a few gliches and unfortunately I don’t know how to fix them, so I have to wait for Clarke to change a few things for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

For Christmas my husband loaded me up on plenty of reading material. I started with the Harry Potter series…no I hadn’t read any of the books yet. I’m the kind of person, when reading a series, does better when waiting until all the books have been published. I hate having to wait months or years for the new book. Case in point…I’ve been waiting for the follow up book by Christopher Paolini for what seems like forever. For some reason he keeps pushing the release date of his next book back. I’m going to have to read the first two books over again because I have forgotten the important details. So, back to what I was saying….I started reading the Harry Potter books at the beginning of January and wrapped up book 7 about two weeks ago. The books were great, by the way. I’m now trying to catch up on the movies.
Tonight I started “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. Most of you know him as the author of “The Kite Runner”, which is one of my favorite books. So far, this new book is as great as his last one. So, it should be a fairly quick read for me, considering I have a hard time putting good books down and have been known to sacrifice sleep to get a few extra hours of reading in. Because I read alot I wanted to talk about my thoughts and views on my choices of reading material in this blog. I will probably write more thoughts about this book after I am finished.

Ok, so most that know me also know that I tend to work a lot of weekends (that will happen when you have two jobs). Well I’m officially in the middle of my second weekend off in a row, with another one to follow next week!! I know this may not be very exciting for most people, but it definitely is for me! I don’t think I’ve had three weekends off in a row, since my first year of college (and we all know how long I was in college). I spent the day taking my dog Ernie on a nice long run/walk this morning, followed by some afternoon shopping with my husband, and then finished the evening off with some great backyard grilling and hanging with good friends. Did I mention I am so ready for spring and summer to be here! The weather today was perfect. Should be great for our softball game tomorrow. And what will I do all my free time next weekend?? So much to look forward to…

So, I’ve been taking my youngest dog Gracee to puppy lessons at Petsmart for the past 8 weeks. It seemed like she was doing okay in the beginning, but the last few sessions have been worse. It seems she will pay great attention to her trainer, but not to me. And why would she? She gets to see me every day! And her trainer always has all those yummy treats….So tonight was her big test night. Luckily she did very well (we tried to practice!) and she ended up passing with flying colors. I will have to post a picture of Gracee in her graduation hat…we tried to pose. All in all, the classes were a lot of fun. It taught her great socialization skills and how to act around other people. A definite recommend for new puppies.

Okay, I’d like to start out by saying that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing with this blog. I’m not the greatest with computers….I can hold my own, but my husband works with computers and the internet every day, so I get a lot of help. He’s actually the one who set this whole thing up for me. The only thing I help him with is his grammar. I can hold my own when it comes to proof reading. Ask my husband how he got all those A’s in his college English class…so if I catch a misspelled word in here, I’m bound to return to the edit feature at some point in time. I’m so excited about starting this blog, though. I’ve been thinking about doing it for awhile….but, I’d really better quit for the night. More to come soon!!
