Tomorrow is finally Thursday, or what feels like Friday since I had to work last Sunday. I’m looking forward to finally having a nice long 3-day weekend. Clarke and I will be packing up the dogs and heading home tomorrow night. Fourth of July weekend always seems to be more fun back home…maybe it’s because you hear people shooting off fireworks the whole week before. Up here in KC, it seems to be non-existent. This is probably because no one allows fireworks up here…what fun is it if you can’t shoot them off yourself? This is one thing I miss about the small town atmosphere. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. At least we won’t be driving back home in a blizzard like we did for Christmas…

Well, wanted to give an update on Gracee’s potty-training progress…she is doing better. I have just been letting her go outside more, which has lead to less accidents in the house, although she did leave a nice puddle at the bottom of our stairs last night. Thankfully, it was discovered before anyone slipped and fell. I have come to find out that she does not like to go when anyone is watching, a very modest dog. Ernie on the other hand could give two hoots about who is watching him poop…that’s a boy for you. Here are some silly pictures of the dogs…hanging out in our bed. They think they own the place.

I suck

So, the 7 day potty-training crash course lasted about….one day. Gracee was not tired, from being in her crate all evening, and decided to bark all night, keeping me awake, thus allowing me to get NO sleep. I don’t know how I made it through the next day. I have been trying to take her out more, but the whole thing is just a nightmare. It’s impossible to watch that dog 24/7…just gotta keep trying. My mother-in-law suggested I put a rug outside since it seems she wants to pee on our carpet/rugs in the house all the time. Something to think about anyways…

So, basically I’ve been a very bad mother to my puppy Gracee. I have not spent enough time really trying to get her fully potty-trained. In consequence, my house has suffered because of this. Gracee has peed on almost every surface possible in my house, and I’m finally sick of it. I’m doing the 7 day potty-training crash course. I’ve decided that this is ridiculous…she is seven months old. I know that this is my fault…Gracee will be spending a lot more time in her crate the next week. Please think of me, and wish me patience, because that is going to be the key to our success. I will update and let you know of her progress. We’re starting day one today. Right now, she’s spending some quality time in her crate.

This week started out slow, but the past few days have been so crazy at work. Today I got home and felt completely exhausted. I’ve been working late every night, but still don’t seem to get everything done. I’ll be so glad when the week is over.

On another note, my brother is coming into town this weekend. Should be getting here tomorrow. I have not cleaned my house as well as I would have liked, but I guess I’ll get over it. On the surface it looks fairly clean. I guess that’s what matters most when you have limited time to do it.

Gracee has been driving me crazy tonight. Sometimes she just goes psycho and runs around the entire house growling and barking at nothing in particular. It’s kind of weird actually. And…to top it off, it’s raining again and our basement is again leaking. So many things to do…too little time to get them all done. Such is life.

Thought I’d share a few pictures of my babies….aren’t they so cute. It’s disgusting how spoiled these dogs are, I’ll admit it.

So we’ve had a lot of rain the past couple of weeks here in KC. I don’t mind the rain, most of the time. It means I don’t have to go outside and physically water my flowers and plants, however, our basement has been leaking and this I do mind. The main problem is that we’ve never really gotten a chance to go through all the stuff in our basement since we’ve moved in. There are still boxes laying around everywhere, and now they’re getting wet, and I don’t even remember what’s inside them. Not good…my goal was to get the basement cleaned out this summer, but it’s hard when you have to work every weekend. Looking forward to July…I know, sounds crazy because we just started June.

Well, I guess it’s been awhile since I’ve written anything. Things are going well here. I’ve gotten back into the swing of things at work since getting back from Florida. Our rehab unit is actually pretty low right now so we’ve had some downtime at work. I’ve had some difficult patient since I’ve gotten back…well, basically difficult personalities would be a better description. But I’m trudging through.

I’m hoping the next month flies by. I working three weekends this month so not much to look forward to, but…my brother should be visiting in a couple weekends. I haven’t seen him since Christmas. Mom, dad, and the girls came up for Memorial weekend. It was nice to have the family together. I miss being around them and wish we had more time together. Clarke and I will be heading back home for the 4th of July for a few days.

Gracee got her first haircut this past Sunday. I was afraid she would look weird with her new “do” but the groomers did a good job. I also had to tell Clarke that no she really is not fat, she was just super fluffy. She does like to eat…everything, but I guess that’s what puppies do.

Okay, so I’ve been back a couple days now, but today was the first day back to work since returning from our anniversary vacation in Florida. I managed to only get a little sunburned…on the first day of course. Clarke and I spent the week hanging at the beach mostly, but we also did an airboat tour of the Everglades (I will post a video snippet soon), para sailing, a sunset cruise, and also visited the zoo in Naples (which I would not recommend, by the way). It was a pretty zoo, but it took us an hour and a half to walk through the entire thing and cost almost 40 bucks to get in. Para sailing was awesome. We could see the whole ocean, including some dolphins. We also saw a shark that swam right beneath the ladder of the boat as we were getting off. Naples has some really great little restaurants, but by the end of the week I was very tired of eating out. But I’m glad to be back home. I missed my dogs…and am still missing one presently. I’ll get Ernie back this weekend. Gracee was very glad to see me. Now I am refreshed and ready to work another entire year before my next vacation (ha,ha).

Clarke and I are finally getting ready to leave for our vacation to Florida!!! Today will be a busy day…we’re taking Gracee to the vet for boarding and then heading out of town to meet my parents in Emporia for some pre-mothers day dinner. We’ve decided to leave Ernie with them for a couple weeks. He doesn’t fair well when he’s boarded. My family is planning on coming to KC for Memorial Day weekend, so they will bring him back to us then. Tonight will probably be spent packing and making any last minute arrangements. Can’t wait!! Hope I don’t get too sunburned!
