Ellery is 5 months old today!! She has changed SO MUCH in the last month. She is rolling, EVERYWHERE, and is eating cereal. She has decided that oatmeal with bananas is not all that bad. Grandpa Dennis came for a quick visit Monday evening. Ellery was a little grouchy, so he’ll have to come back soon when she’s in a better mood!

This is old, but I always wanted to put in on here because it’s pretty funny. We always say Ellery is doing “the motorcycle” because it looks like she’s trying to kick start it.

Ellery did wonderful today. We managed to get in two very good naps and she ate all her cereal this morning and this evening.

Ellery does not like to take naps during the day. Granted, she sleeps all night, and I’m so grateful for that, but she is still very little and needs a few naps during the day. I don’t know if she thinks she’s going to miss out on something or what, but trying to get her down for a nap is a huge battle. I can tell she’s sleepy…she always rubs her eyes when she’s tired. Today when I got home from work she was extremely fussy, and after an hour of trying, I finally got her to fall asleep. And then she proceeded to sleep for 3 hours (I knew she was tired). Anyways, we have not tried cereal for a couple days due to her grumpiness and the screaming when I even bring the bowl out, but I am bound and determined. We will try again tomorrow.

Ellery’s daycare called me today at work and said that she had been extremely upset and spent most of the morning crying. They gave her some Tylenol, but said that I should probably get her in to see the doctor if possible. She broke out in a rash Thursday afternoon. So, I scrambled around to get my remaining patients covered (thankfully I had worked through my lunch hour and had almost seen everyone) and went to pick Ellery up from daycare. The doctor said she has Roseola, probably as a result from the high fever she ran last week. She’s not contagious anymore and there is nothing to do for it as it was a viral thing and she is pretty much over it. I guess the rash means its nearing the end. So that explains why she has been so fussy the past week…I thought she was just teething, but then again it could be a combination of the two.

I have been continuing to give cereal to Ellery every night. So far we have tried Rice (which she didn’t really care for) and oatmeal (which has also made her turn her nose up). Tonight I tried oatmeal with bananas, and what do you know…she seemed to actually like it, a little. Once she figured out it was different, she actually took some bites. I also let her “feed herself” a little. She was putting the spoon in her mouth (with food on it)! I should have taken a picture because she was covered in food, more so than usual, but we were a little busy at the moment. I’m hoping that she continues to get better. We will just have to keep practicing. BTW…all this cereal eating has lead to a huge increase in poopy diapers! Lucky me.

Although today has not been the greatest day (teething has led to multiple tears and screaming), we were able to have a little fun this afternoon with the pups. Ellery is in LOVE with the dogs and has to know where they are at all times. She has also figured out that the only way she is able to move at this point, is to roll. And roll she does! Over and over…
